Little Crater Trail Newberry National Volcanic Monument, Oregon

This is a hiking trail that traverses a cinder cone in the center of the Newberry Caldera in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. It offers spectacular views of the Big Obsidian Flow, Paulina Lake, and the Caldera itself. Dick Performed the reconnaisance of the area and then laid out the trail to take advantage of the best viewpoints and natural features of the cinder cone. He then wrote the specifications for the contract and administered the construction contract.
